“The master of niche markets”

This call will be of special interest if:

1. You’re looking for a new market opportunity to go into

2. You already have a business and you want to greatly magnify the results you’re getting – without spending more time or money

3. You’re considering going into a hyper-competetive market and you want a strategy that will get you your “slice of the pie”- even if you’re starting from zero against much bigger, established competitors.

I’m a firm believer in the “gun to the head” model of marketing, first put out by Gary Halbert.

In other words, in my own marketing I want to focus *exclusively* on the things that matter the most – as if my life depended on it.

Which leads us to this question..

Is there really ONE single most important thing in marketing?

Yes, you bet there is.

Get this wrong and no amount of fancy moves and effort will pay off.

Get this right and you can be a so-so marketer and still thrive.

Strangely, you can take 101 marketing courses only a handful will even bring it up, and even those just touch on it and then get on to “grander” things.

To explain how important this ONE thing is, let me give you an analogy…

Say that one day you decide that you want to take up competitive diving.

There are a lot of things that matter if you’re going to get good at it:

the right coach, the right conditioning, the right training methods etc.

But there is ONE thing that is a MUST…

It’s going to seem so simple and obvious after I tell you, you may laugh.

Here it is:

You must make sure there is water in the pool!

All the fancy moves in the world will not help you over come that lack.

And, you also want to make sure the water is deep enough – and that the “water” is in the right form, not ice and not scalding steam.

Simple, right?

But how many marketers get this wrong?

How many marketers go into markets that are too small or too unresponsive to make real money in?

I can tell you from over 25 years of advising people A LOT.

But there’s more to this that just picking the right market.

Related to this and equally important is picking the right way to enter the market. (To continue the diving analogy, “the angle of entry.”

You sure don’t want to belly flop off a 30 foot diving platform.

You also don’t want to hit the water face first without your hands and arms in front you to break the water.

But people do the equivalent of this in their marketing all the time.

There are THREE KEY things in marketing:

1. Picking the right market

2. Picking the right slice of that market to go after

3. Approaching that market with the right appeal.

These are all three sides of the same basic skill.

If you get it right, then all your efforts and skills get amplified and you have a great chance for success.

If you get it wrong, it’s all for nothing.

Dr. Glenn Livingston is THE “go to” guy on this subject.

Many “big name” marketers, including me, hang on this every word when he gets into the intricacies of how to get this crucial “life or death” part of marketing right.
